Community Involvement

Supporting our communities is a top priority.

At Nordco, we firmly believe that we need to support the communities we live in. Therefore, we have been the proud sponsors of the following activities.

Badger State Science Fair

Nordco sponsors a special Engineering award for this state-wide science event for grades 9-12.

In 2013, we presented this award to the following three winners:

  • Bradley Scharlau for "Automated Paraplegic Hazard Recognition Wheelchair Accoutrement"
  • Joseph Greshik for "Automated Oscillating Anti-Combustion Sentry"
  • Jacob Van Den Heuvel for "Using Ultra Capacitors for Stop-Start Applications"

Canadian Pacific Holiday Train

Every year, the Canadian Pacific holiday train travels throughout the US and Canada to bring holiday joy as well as highlight food bank activities in each community that it stops in. Nordco is delighted to hold a headquarters food drive to support this worthy cause. We also serve cookies and hot chocolate to almost 1000 people at the Sturtevant, Wisconsin stop of the tour.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

We joined forces with our dealer - Adobe Equipment - to sponsor a barbeque to rival all barbeques!

Valero Texas Open

Folks in our industry love to play golf. And the Valero Texas Open is golf with supersize Texas flavor. So, we are proud to be involved in an event that so many of our Texas customers look forward to every year.

Motiva Masters Cyling Team

We are pleased to sponsor our Motiva and Shell friends when they cycle to raise funds for multiple sclerosis and diabetes research.

American Cancer Society - Relay for Life

We joined forces with the Kansas chapter of the American Cancer Society to sponsor their annual Relay for Life - an overnight community walking/relay event to raise funds for cancer research.

Ray Morales Benefit / American Cancer Society

Tragically, we lost one of our own to cancer. Ray Morales was a key member of the Equipment Services team and is deeply missed by all. We wanted to show support to his family during the terrible time after his death, so we held a benefit event to raise funds for his wife and children. In addition, we donated to the American Cancer Society in his name.

Arcola Fire Fighters Association

Our local firefighters keep us and our facilities safe. In Arcola, this responsibility falls to a dedicated team of volunteers. In appreciation of their efforts, we support their community activities, including Breakfast with Santa.

Atwood-Hammond Little League

You may have gathered by now that we really like working with kids. Our local little league team needed help with rebuilding their field and supplying equipment to the participants. We were excited to help with both projects.

Special Olympics

Not every kid is able to participate in mainstream sports. Yet, for mentally challenged children, their need to play and grow is just as strong and as necessary as for any other child. Therefore, we are so pleased to be involved with our local Special Olympics chapter, supporting them financially and with volunteers.

Archbishop O'Hara High School Cel-Techs Robotics Team

In our industry, we can't help but get excited about student involvement with science and technology competitions. Therefore, we were delighted to sponsor the Cel-Techs robotics team when they competed in the annual FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) competition.

The “Peru Buddy Ball” Program

The “Peru Buddy Ball” Program is a little league baseball league.  It is for handicapped kids of all ages. They play Tuesday nights in Peru, Indiana.  There are 4 teams that participate.  It is a great honor to be involved in such a worthy cause.  The kids seemed to really enjoy the time on the field.  The whole program is designed for the kids to have something different in their routine and to have a lot of fun.  For more information on the league and the chance to get involved, please contact Brad Ortman at 765-860-5107 or Sven Bonde at 312-350-3179.
