Oak Creek, WI – 5/11/2026 – Nordco has successfully delivered the first five units of its groundbreaking NXV Spiker to its valued Class 1 customers. This milestone comes after years of research, engineering, and testing aimed at innovating how railroads approach track maintenance.
The NXV Spiker represents the latest advancement of Nordco’s century of expertise in maintenance-of-way equipment, addressing the evolving challenges modern railroads face including maximizing track time while minimizing cost per tie installed. The demand for more efficient, reliable, and technologically advanced maintenance equipment has never been greater.
Designed in close collaboration with Class 1 railroads, the NXV Spiker was built from the ground up to overcome the limitations of previous generations of spiking machines. The result is a machine that utilizes an AI powered Vision System and an Automatic-Spike Feeder to not only drive spikes but also reduce the number of operators required from 3 to 1. It does that while providing a fully-enclosed and comfortable work environment for the operator.
“I’m excited to see the first five NXV Spikers go to our customers,” said Nick Schultz, Director of Engineering at Nordco. “This milestone reflects the dedication of our team and demonstrates what can be achieved through innovation, advanced technology, and a strong focus on our customers’ needs.”
The delivery of these initial units reinforces Nordco’s commitment to innovation and its mission to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability across the rail industry. The NXV Spiker joins Nordco’s TPX tie exchanger as part of a growing portfolio of automation-driven solutions designed to reduce operating costs and simplify equipment operation without compromising performance.
As these machines enter service, they signal the beginning of a new era in rail maintenance, one defined by smarter equipment, streamlined operations, and continued industry progress.
