Productivity AND Control

Powerful equipment, combined with powerful systems, mean not only improved operator control but increased productivity:

  • The new CANbus control system allows operators to easily establish all their critical operational settings from an intuitive tablet display (combined monitor and keyboard). Mechanics use the same CANbus-controlled tablet display to quickly diagnose any equipment problems.
  • The hydrostatic propel system, with up to two times more torque than the CX Hammer, offers much faster acceleration while providing more responsive control over movement. The system also features proportional propel pedals, as well as variable pump and motors, resulting in much smoother track travel.
  • The traction control system includes anti-slip, as well as feathering capabilities.
  • The hydraulic pattern cylinders provide gun spacing. Optional pattern memory includes a previous pattern recall feature, allowing operators to quickly set up and store spacing patterns.
  • The hydraulic hammers have more impact energy than the hammers used on the CX Hammer.
  • The new bulkbin design with an improved Cluster Buster feature improves the flow of spikes. An auto spike feeder option provides continuous spike feeding action from the bulk bin directly to the driving guns, eliminating the need for a feed tray operator.
  • The configurable automatic nipper dig and spike loading options allow the operator to focus on spiking operations, while reducing operator fatigue.
  • The proportional gager control allows fast and reliable gaging operations.
  • New nipper cylinders with regen and auto-dig option allow for faster nipping of ties.

Improved visibility

Operators enjoy improved visibility with the SE Spiker:

  • Operators appreciate the larger front windows, the raised operator seat, and the clear sight lines across the top of the engine, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

Maintenance made simple

The SE Hammer was specifically designed with field maintenance in mind:

  • Mechanics appreciate the piping layout that includes a common gallery, shorter hoses, highly visible and simplified hose routings, and less fittings. User-friendly hydraulic and electrical ssytem plaques clearly identify parts and their associated part numbers for easy replacement part ordering.
  • The proportional mobile equipment valves, unlike industrial DO3 valves, are much smaller and have far fewer potential leak points.
  • The quick-change anvil ensures swift and simple anvil change outs in the field.
  • The SE Spiker uses many of the same components as other Nordco machines, meaning you can stock fewer maintenance parts on your parts wagon. In addition, the machine's modular design makes components accessible and faster to maintain.

Ergonomics rule the day

The SE Spiker was also specifically desinged with operator ergonomics in mind:

  • The raised operator seat and the tablet-style CANbus control system give the operator more access to operational controls from the seated position, making it easier and faster to not only perform initial setups, but to respond to environmental changes as they arise.
  • The raised cab floor and the barrier-free walkway reduces potential trips and falls.
  • New transducers in the up/down cylinders replace proximity switches for easy adjustment of cylinder ready heights.
  • The air conditioning unit faces the operators, providing maximum cooling effect on torrid days.
